Councilman Brent Taylor has announced receipt of a quarter million dollar grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the Memphis Fire Department. The City of Memphis beat out other cities competing for these funds through a competitive grant process.

"I'm happy to announce this grant will provide Memphis firefighters with 1,500 air mask face pieces, regulators, and bags," Taylor remarked. "After the World Trade Center disaster, we all recognize the importance of having a sufficient quantity of air masks for our emergency personnel. This equipment will help protect our firefighters in whatever dangerous situations they may encounter," said Taylor.

The Memphis Fire Department actively sought these funds and will receive $262,500 from FEMA.
