Councilman Brent Taylor of Cordova has been re-appointed to the Chickasaw Basin Authority. Taylor was first named to the Authority in 2000 and is presently serving as Vice Chairman.
"I'm happy to continue serving on the Chickasaw Basin Authority," said Taylor. "The CBA works to obtain federal and state funding to fight erosion and control floods in Fayette and Shelby counties. Funds are used to clear debris from creeks, build retention basins, and build bank stabilization structures," he stated.
The Chickasaw Basin Authority is a 27-year old commission created to assist farmers and landowners in combating floods and erosion. The Chickasaw Basin is the drainage area of the Wolf and Loosahatchie rivers and the Nonconnah and Horn Lake creeks.
Councilman Taylor is serving his second term on the council. He represents Cordova and East Memphis.
